Ambleside Beach in West Vancouver is one of my favorite places. Not only in the summer. One can reach it via the Spirit Trail by bike, there is enough parking in the area, great restaurants and many kilometers of promenade walkway along the shore. See for yourself:
On a sunny day Ambleside can get busy. On the weekends families bring BBQs, kayaks, SUPs.
Sunday mornings are wonderful here, almost no people (yet). We often take picknick, read the paper and the girls enjoy playing. When the tide is low (as is in this picture) there are beautiful shells, stones. And the logs you see are also washed ashore.
From Ambleside one can walk to Dundarave Park. It is smaller than Ambleside Beach, but offers a small playground, the beautiful “Beach House” restaurant (we yet have to try), and stunning sunset views as the next picture shows.
When the weather looks like a good sunset, many people bike here with their chairs, a bottle of wine and enjoy the sunset. Its very calm and beautiful.
Spending a couple of hours at Ambleside also shows how busy the Vancouver Port is with container traffic as well as cruise ship traffic.
